Dr. Clark is the founder and President of Medical Laser Dynamics, a company of 32 years working directly with manufacturers, government entities, and device administrators and users in the world of Energy-based devices. MLD provides unique non-biased education on devices made in the United States and around the world. Dr. Clark has direct experience in complete hospital programs, outpatient and freestanding surgery centers, the beginnings of office and spa applications, and the development of light applications for nonprofessional and home use.
An Interview with Dr. Clark
SCALE Interviewer: What makes your products and services unique within the industry?
Dr. Clark: We are one of the very few independent consultants and education groups in the industry not tied to manufacturer’s influence.
SCALE Interviewer: When did you first hear about the Symposium for Cosmetic Advance & Laser Education (SCALE) conference?
Dr. Clark: I was introduced to and invited to speak at the SCALE meeting by Dr. Gold some 15 years ago
SCALE Interviewer: Can you share your favorite memory or memories from past SCALE conferences?
Dr. Clark: I am delighted and surprised each year of the past 15+ to see the same family faces coming back to revisit the core concepts of device selection and application. Just last week in a visit to a private Dermatology Office in Atlanta the staff said as I arrived, ‘You are the guy from the SCALE meeting.” It is wonderful to see that SCALE continues to offer information that attendees find real and applicable to their world and experience.
SCALE Interviewer: Are there any exhibitors, presentations, or areas of study that you are most looking forward to at this year’s SCALE conference?
Dr. Clark: I am continually amazed at the world-wide speaker faculty and SCALE’s ability to bring the real ‘movers and shakers’ that shape new and contemporary thought and application.

What are Aesthetic Laser and Intense Pulsed Light Treatments Exactly?
For those who are unfamiliar, the aesthetic laser and intense pulsed light treatment courses offered by Medical Laser Dynamics refer to two distinct treatment methods. These cosmetic procedures can range from non-invasive hair removal to controlling unwanted acne.
Aesthetic Laser Treatments
“Laser” is actually an acronym for “light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation”. Lasers have come a long way in medical applications, and this is particularly true for the field of aesthetic cosmetic procedures. Cosmetic laser procedures using lasers can be used for a variety of applications including tightening skin, reducing wrinkles, removing lesions, removing vascular lesions, hair removal, tattoo removal, and much more.
Aesthetic laser treatments may include either ablative or non-ablative lasers. Ablative lasers focus on the surface of the skin and aim to remove surface level issues. Non-ablative lasers penetrate the epidermis and are used to deal with problems beneath the surface of the skin.
Intense Pulsed Light Treatments
Intense pulsed light treatments are similar to laser treatments, but use a different technology to achieve the results. IPL treats skin with multiple wavelengths of pulsating light. IPL may also use heat to safely remove unwanted and/or dead skin cells. Intense pulsed light treatments may be used to treat rosacea marks, scars, birthmarks, acne, wrinkles, unwanted hair, uneven skin tone, and much more.
Medical Laser Dynamics specializes in ablative laser, non-ablative laser, and intense pulsed light treatments for cosmetic procedures.
