Dr. Monheit has been serving the Birmingham community since 1977, and has since grown the business to include a medical center, surgical center, phototherapy center, and much more.

An Interview with Dr. Monheit
SCALE Interviewer: Can you briefly introduce yourself and tell us about your organization?
Dr. Monheit: I am a Dermatologist in Birmingham, Alabama. I founded our practice, Total Skin and Beauty Dermatology Center, 40 years ago and now have 4 other Dermatologists and 4 other providers. We are a full service Dermatology center. We emphasize Dermatologic Surgery, Mohs surgery with a distinct emphasis on Cosmetic Dermatology. Our clinical research center is involved in many cosmetic products including new fillers and toxins and also new cosmetic procedures.
SCALE Interviewer: What makes your products and services unique within the industry?
Dr. Monheit: The long-term experience with all cosmetic products including basic research makes our services unique with a broad-ranging, unbiased approach to all products and industry. As a teacher, lecturer, and researcher for all I have an unbiased approach to cosmetic practice.
SCALE Interviewer: When did you first hear about the Symposium for Cosmetic Advance & Laser Education (SCALE) conference?
Dr. Monheit: I was a member of the SCALE teaching faculty last year and thoroughly enjoyed the association with experts and learned much. It is a personal convivial conference for all.
SCALE Interviewer: Can you share your favorite memory or memories from past SCALE conferences?
Dr. Monheit: My favorite parts are the panels in which multiple approaches to common problems and patient needs are discussed.
SCALE Interviewer: Are there any exhibitors, presentations, or areas of study that you are most looking forward to at this year’s SCALE conference?
Dr. Monheit: I am anxious to see what is new since last year including release of toxins, fillers, and new laser devices.

The Surgical Center: Skin cancer procedures are a primary focus of the Surgical Center at the Total Skin & Beauty Dermatology Center. Dr. Monheit and his team of surgeons specialize in plastic reconstruction and Mohs Micrographic Surgery. In fact, Dr. Monheit was the first surgeon to practice Mohs Micrographic Surgery in all of Alabama, having over 40 years of experience with the procedure. The Surgical center is directed by Dr. Monheit.
