SCALE 2020 is a convention for dermatologists, aesthetic practitioners, cosmetic surgeons, and anyone who is interested in the industry. What started as a small party amongst friends 14 years ago has since grown into the premier cosmetics and aesthetics convention in the country! Last year the convention featured 850 attendees and 125 industry vendors. While all attendees can enjoy our world-class amenities, there are also two special sessions available to interested parties. Both of these sessions require pre-registration (more on this below), so be sure to sign up ahead of time!
SCALE 2020 is being hosted at the Music City Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. As a special note regarding the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, “we will be monitoring the developments of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and will take guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Tennessee Department of Health. In addition, we are tracking all travel restrictions by the US Government.”

SCALE 2020 Special Session: Lasers 101 AKA Energy 101
The second and final special session of SCALE 2020 is our Energy 101 course, formerly known as lasers 101. Here are the details:
- Energy 101 will take place over the course of two days: Wednesday, July 22nd from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, July 23rd from 2:00 to 6:30 p.m.
- The location of the workshop is the Music City Center: Room 204 AB.
- The class will be led by Patrick Clark, Ph.D. CMSLO.
- Pre-registration is required to take the course, but there is no additional fee for SCALE conference attendees.
Energy 101 will cover a range of laser applications in the aesthetics and cosmetics industries including laser tech, IPL, radiofrequency, microwave technology, magnetics, LLLT, light/drug therapy, and more! Energy 101 is appropriate for everyone from laser beginners to those who use lasers in their daily practice. As technology progresses, lasers have become part of a much bigger energy equation. That is exactly why this program, which has been attended by some attendees more than 10 times, is adapting to the new reality.
Energy 101 (lasers 101) has been a running tradition from the very beginning of SCALE 2020. This year will mark the 15th year of SCALE and of Energy 101. Dr. Clark has extensive experience using laser technology and is a certified laser safety officer. According to Dr. Clark, “the largest single challenge over the last 25 years is keeping up with the changes in equipment, application, and regulation by different states and organizations.” These challenges are precisely why courses like Energy 101 are so imperative today!
