One of the most remarkable aspects of SCALE Music City, the annual meeting and sponsor of The Tennessee Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (TSLMS), is the opportunity to interact with our sponsors. About a year ago we introduced you to the SCALE 2019 sponsors and vendors. That was a pretty impressive group. However, the line up for 2020 is even better. Each of these companies will have a significant presence at SCALE 2020, and each of them deserves the recognition that we are giving them on our website and in our marketing materials. You will not want to miss the opportunity to spend time with each of them.
Galderma – Changing the Way the World Thinks About Skincare
This year we have a very special Elite sponsor, Galderma. This is a company that owns brands familiar to many consumers as well as most of the aesthetic community. The company is huge and it is definitely going to intersect with just about everyone at some level sometime.
Galderma’s consumer brand is Cetaphil, which is a line of skincare products that comes as close to prescription strength as one can get without a prescription. It also has Proactiv and Differin OTC, both of which treat acne. They also have medical products, which are designed around skin health as they note on their website:
Increasingly, patients with skin conditions are visiting healthcare professionals, and dermatologists in particular, looking for relief from skin conditions that have physical, psychological or social consequences in their daily life… We aim to make an impact in the lives of consumers by providing innovative and effective aesthetic solutions that enhance skin health and meet their needs… Galderma works closely with healthcare professionals [dermatologists] to provide innovative solutions to skin health needs for all patients, of all ages… Driven by ground-breaking medical research we provide our customers with the aesthetic treatments and tools to help consumers achieve the natural-looking results they are seeking.
Our increased investment in aesthetic research and development has allowed us to maintain our position as experts in skin health and support our mission to deliver a steady progression of innovative science-based solutions and products. As one of the category’s leading companies, we have a comprehensive portfolio of recognized brands and services trusted by healthcare providers and consumers. Worldwide, we have over two decades of aesthetic innovation and unique heritage in hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, supported by science. As we develop new aesthetic solutions, we aim to be a premier partner of choice of healthcare professionals (HCPs) all over the world.
In addition to providing a portfolio of aesthetic products that can provide the natural-looking results that patients want, healthcare professionals choose to work with us because of the proven quality of our brands and services as well as our extraordinary depth of expertise and heritage in skin health.
In our unwavering commitment to pioneering science and practice support, our scientific talent and drive has yielded an extensive body of clinical research. Our history of product efficacy and safety have resulted in a renowned aesthetic portfolio that HCPs and consumers can trust.
Many TSLMS members use Galderma’s brands in their homes and in their offices. Many of us use these to help our clients and patients look and feel more beautiful. We are very excited to have the company at SCALE 2020 and look forward to seeing what innovations they will bring to us there.
Galderma In The News
Until October, 2019, Galderma was owned by Nestle, which is more well known for its food products than for its skincare, medical and aesthetic lines. As reported in various news outlets, Galderma “has debuted as a rebranded organization following the closing of a previously announced deal to sell Nestle Skin Health to a consortium. Separated from Nestlé, Galderma has become the largest independent global dermatology company, according to stakeholders. It offers a range of medical and consumer skin health solutions through three business units: aesthetics, prescription and consumer care, with combined revenues of CHF 2.8 billion and approximately 5,000 employees worldwide.” (Source).
The company will be led into the future in its headquarters in Switzerland by a strong management team that includes CEO Dr. Flemming Ornskov, MD, MPH, board chairman Thomas Ebeling, who was previously the CEO of Novartis Pharma, and Sheri McCoy, former CEO of Avon Products and vice chairman of Johnson & Johnson.
This is some big news, not just for the company itself, but also for the future of our entire industry.
SCALE 2020’s Platinum Sponsors
Cynosure is one of the most interesting companies out there. Its parent company is Hologic, and earlier this year it launched, with FDA approval, two innovative pieces of aesthetic technology: “the TempSure® Firm handpiece and a petite mask for SculpSure® submental treatments. SculpSure submental treatments.” (Source). We anticipate seeing demonstrations of each, as well as sound reporting on the first year results from the real marketplace.
Merz Aesthetics is one of the most highly rated aesthetics companies in North America. In fact, in May 2019 the company reported that “for the third year in a row, Merz has been recognized as the “Top Aesthetics Company” by Aesthetic Everything® and Bob Rhatigan has been named the “Top Aesthetics CEO.” As part of the annual Aesthetic and Cosmetic Medicine Awards, Merz executives and products were also recognized with 19 additional award wins – 21 total wins overall.” (Source).
Ortho Dermatologics has a unique and extensive product line up. If you work in the field of aesthetics it is hard to imagine that you do not use at least one regularly. One of those products, which was filed for FDA approval in 2019, is a treatment for acne vulgaris that comes in lotion form. IDP-123 would be a game changer in the field and we hope that it will be on the market by the time we meet in July.
SoltaMedical specializes in aesthetic medical devices. As the company notes on their website, “It’s one thing to change an industry – it’s another thing entirely to be a pioneer that defines an industry as it emerges. Over time, the aesthetics industry has changed the way consumers, and their doctors work to maintain their appearance, and Solta Medical has been there since day one. We deliver sophisticated technology in simple, elegant designs, providing true aesthetic and therapeutic benefits. For more than a decade, we’ve been developing innovative treatment technologies to provide proven and effective aesthetic care options to consumers and physicians alike.”
