Learn more about Dr. Watchmaker- Our Academic Co-Chair!

  1. What inspired you to pursue a career in dermatology, and what continues to excite you about the field today? I learned as a medical student how broad the field of dermatology is—from pediatrics to surgery to aesthetics. I love how in clinic I can go from treating a young child with eczema, to excising a skin cancer to doing laser for acne scarring. The diversity and broadness of the field really keeps things exciting!  I also love how it is an every evolving and advancing field. Since I was a resident numerous (some life changing) medications have come to market.
  2. What sets SCALE apart from other dermatology/aesthetic conferences in your opinion? The faculty. It is rare to see so many amazing faculty all presenting at the same conference!
  3. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received in your dermatology career? Don’t be scared to ask for advice/mentorship. Also be proactive about your education!
  4. Can you tell us a little about yourself and where you’re from? I grew up in Wisconsin in a family of 4 siblings (including a twin sister). I moved to the East Coast for 4 years and have been in Arizona since.
  5. What’s one thing your colleagues might be surprised to learn about you? I was a Dance and Movement Studies Major in college.
